FEEDBACK - The one thing I always cringed giving for the longest of time. Why? Because I wouldn't look good. I would come across as harsh or taken advantage of. Because I was afraid I wouldn't put it rationally and my emotions might hamper the situation/relationship further on. I learnt, later that there are ways to provide feedback and it's critical to both - the giver and the recipient to improve. It helps in dialogue and progress. So, HOW MANY DIFFERENT WAYS ARE THERE TO GIVE FEEDBACK? Here's a few, I generally use especially when it's uncomfortable: 1. Help me understand about... 2. That's not my experience... 3. Tell me more... 4. Walk me through it... 5. Tell me why it works for you? 6. Tell me why it doesn't fit? 7. Could you elaborate... 8. What's your feeling about it? 'Action-oriented' feedback is of greater value.
